In my first week in AP Lit, I the main ideas that I took from it were the following: for writing, anyone can be a writer and in order to write well, you must be innovated and not write something that’s an equivalent to a list of facts as well as to be comfortable while writing. For example, there is very little point to simply pointing out the obvious because if it’s obvious, then it has no point in the piece that is being written. As for reading, I learned that many people agreed with the notion that in order to be a good reader, we must be invested in the book by looking at it by different angles because we want to, or else we’re just looking at words and not caring about it. The Huffington Post had an article about how one can be a better reader, so it only makes sense that the more invested one is, the more the steps given in the article do their purpose.
I came to know this information as the class started to open up to each other and expressing their own opinions and perceptions, which made us all grow together. I just really enjoyed when I would talk to the girls in my group over the many comments made about the video we watched. I believe my own participation was to my fullest ability and I feel like I really got something out of interacting with my peers.
If I had to rate my understandings of of all ideas given, it would be maybe 3.5/5 due to the fact that it’s hard to take it all in so fast, but I try my hardest. I also feel like I still need to work on getting myself to better understand the pieces necessary to writing say a good essay and not a shallow and/or bland one.
