In a very interesting Ted Talk, a man named Alain De Botton discussed people's personal success and the societal expectations of another person's success. And here are some of the key points.
Many people in life base their own success off of what other people say is success to them, like when a teenager succeeds in getting good grades in all of their classes BECAUSE their parents said they have to. Therefore that student based their achievement off of what other people expected them to do, but, is that really a good thing? These kind of expectations are what cause anxiety and stress within many people in work, school, or any other kind of situation that matches, because society tells people that if they do not succeed at whatever task, they are a loser, and who does deserves to be put on a much higher pedestal.
This all relates to tragedy because tragedy is almost all about failure, but it understands failure of normal people, because sometimes failure is something the average person cannot control, so it means that others should not give complete criticism to every person. Tragedy gives its audience sympathy to those who failed when something else was expected of them.
